Arranging a funeral at the height of the pandemic was a harrowing experience for many, with restrictions making the planning process exceptionally difficult. Challenges included frequently changing rules and strict attendance limits. Even when some rules were lifted, people were advised to only invite close friends and family to funerals, and there was a strict limit of 30 attendees. This was the case regardless of whether the event was held indoors or outdoors.
Fortunately, most restrictions on funerals have now been lifted, making it possible to arrange the service your loved one would really want. Here at Carroll & Carroll, we can help you to make it happen, with our team going the extra mile to meet your needs.
Since all restrictions were lifted in 2021, people have had much more freedom when it comes to arranging funerals. Now, only the capacity of the venue determines how many mourners can attend. Rules regarding funerals changed on Monday 19th July 2021, although venue operators can still set their own rules and limits if they wish to do so.
The Government is no longer asking funeral guests to stay more than two metres apart from people from other households, and venues don’t need to impose social distancing rules if they don’t want to. Nonetheless, those attending funerals are still advised to keep their distance from others and limit close contact to weaken the risk of transmitting or catching COVID-19.
Those that have been instructed to quarantine or are currently self-isolating after a holiday may still be able to attend a funeral if they are legally exempt. However, it’s important that they keep a two-metre distance from others if possible.
There are now no restrictions on singing, chanting or dancing at funeral services and other events, and table service restrictions are no longer in place. Although face coverings are no longer required by law, the Government still recommends that they are worn in crowded settings.
